Abstract: A nutrition support team (NST) is essential in the delivery of quality and cost-effective complex artificial nutritional care to patients in hospital. The ideal NST comprises of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach, specifically a physician, nurse, dietitian and pharmacist. The NST at Epworth Richmond oversees the delivery of parenteral nutrition (PN). This service has historically been the led by Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Consultants. ICU are responsible for numerous high acuity and time critical services in the hospital. In early 2023, a new service model was piloted, whereby the NST was led by Internal Medicine (IM) physicians.
