Abstract: | During a high dose (HDR) brachytherapy treatment, the likelihood of the source failing to retract or source detachment is very low due to the safety mechanisms built into the HDR unit. However, AAPM TG 591 recommends that all departments providing HDR brachytherapy should have emergency procedures in place and routinely test and practice the procedures. |
